The United States title seesaw continues with a second title change in three days.
AJ Styles, who lost the United States title to Kevin Owens at the Battleground pay-per-view, won it back on tonight's SmackDown main event, which Styles defeat Owens and a returning Chris Jericho. Jericho was inserted into the match as he never got the rematch clause after losing the title to Owens a few months back.
Speaking of rematches, KO demanded his for next week's SmackDown, bringing the number of PPV Main-Event Level Matches that you can get for free next Tuesday to two.
(In case you hadn't heard, next week, John Cena will be facing Shinsuke Nakamura for the right to fight Jinder Mahal at Summerslam.)
Here are some highlights of the match posted from WWE's Twitter account:
This is Styles' second reign with the United States title after beating Owens for the title earlier this month at a house show in Madison Square Garden.
Below is the finish of the triple threat main event from Fightful's live coverage of SmackDown Live, written by Ryan Cook.
AJ is in control as we come back from commercial, beating on Kevin in the corner before Chris comes in and is dropped by Kevin. AJ then sends Kevin out of the ring before hitting a 450 splash, Kevin tossing AJ out of the ring before getting a near fall. Chris gets a near fall off of a Code Breaker before Kevin hits a cannonball in the corner, everyone then hitting a move before they all collapse. Chris sends AJ out of the ring before Kevin hits a superkick and a pop-up powerbomb for a very close near fall before Kevin hits a five star frog splash. AJ then tosses Kevin out of the ring before pinning Chris for the win.
Winner: AJ Styles via pinfall
