Nick Aldis: There's Someone Very Successful In WWE Who Wants Nothing To Do With Me

Nick Aldis is the headlining act in the National Wrestling Alliance as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. And though he's wrestled all over the world, he's never made his way to WWE. Aldis' wife Mickie James has been with WWE since 2016, leading many to believe that Aldis could easily sign with the promotion if the two parties could reach an agreement.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Aldis discussed why he hasn't joined, and may never join, WWE.

"[Mickie being there is] almost more of a problem," he said. "Because, then I'm looking at it thinking, 'Is this a favor?' Or then it becomes 'that's an extra complication we don't want to have to worry about.' The reality is, there's somebody there, who is very very successful, who, for whatever reason decided he didn't want to have anything to do with me because of some of his actions on a personal level. It's one of those weird things. There's no way to address it. I've had conversations with them over the years and I just got to a point where I just went, 'I'm done chasing that dragon.' Ultimately, what's my vision here? To be in WWE or be a big-time pro wrestler? One way provides a much quicker path to the other, but it's not the only path."

He continued, "What I realized was, if that's the case -- of course, no one will confirm or deny, it's just 'I don't know' -- then what would happen if I did go? It wouldn't make any difference because clearly it would still be problematic."

Aldis did not name the person in WWE who "doesn't want anything to do with him." James continues to work in WWE, though she is sidelined from in-ring action with a torn ACL.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Aldis stated he rejected a contract with AEW, but that the NWA is open to working with them. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
