NJPW And IMPACT Open Forbidden Door, Juice Robinson And David Finlay Set For 2/16 IMPACT

IMPACT No Surrender ended with an unexpected surprise.

The main event of the show saw Rich Swann successfully defend his IMPACT Championship against Tommy Dreamer. After the match, both men were attacked by Moose. The broadcast appeared to end with him holding up both the IMPACT and TNA World Titles, but a vignette played instead.

According to the promotion, New Japan Pro Wrestling's Juice Robinson and David Finlay will be in the IMPACT Zone this Tuesday, February 16, 2021. FinJuice, as they're called, are former IWGP Tag Team Champions. They last competed together on NJPW Strong back in November.

IMPACT (formerly TNA) and NJPW have had a contentious relationship in the past, with the latter holding a grudge for the former's less-than-ideal handling of Tetsuya Naito and Kazuchika Okada. There was also the time TNA executed an IWGP Tag Title change without permission. Not to mention NJPW being pulled from AXS TV after Anthem, IMPACT's parent-company, purchased a majority stake in the network. This list goes on. Nevertheless, the ice that has built up between the two appears to slowly be melting.

The first olive branch was extended when IMPACT sent Chris Bey to New Japan to compete in the Super-J Cup Tournament in December 2020.

AEW and IMPACT have been crossing-over ever since Don Callis helped Kenny Omega win the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley. Over the past two months, The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) have been appearing regularly on Dynamite, while Omega, Matt Hardy, and Private Party have shown up on IMPACT.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has entered the fray now, too. After Jon Moxley's surprise attack on KENTA at NJPW Strong, the Bullet Club member returned the favor by jumping Moxley at the end of February 3rd's Dynamite. The two will face off for the IWGP US Title on February 26 at NJPW New Beginning USA.

Rocky Romero recently talked about the cooperation between the three companies. His comments can be seen here.
