NXT Narrowly Outdraws AEW Dynamite In Viewers For 4/8; AEW Pulls Better Ratings

In a rare instance, NXT drew a higher viewership number than AEW Dynamite this week.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the April 8 episode of NXT averaged 693,000 viewers, slightly higher than AEW Dynamite's 692,000 viewers. Both shows saw an increase in viewership compared to the week prior with last week's NXT averaging only 590,000 viewers and Dynamite averaging 685,000 viewers.

In the 18-49 demographic, Dynamite still came out on top, drawing a 0.26 rating, good for 32nd best on cable for the day. NXT, on the other hand, drew a 0.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which was 51st best on cable for the day.

NXT opened with Io Shirai winning a six-woman ladder match to become the No. 1 contender to Charlotte Flair's NXT Women's Championship. The show was headlined by the "One Final Beat" match between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa.

Dynamite featured several matches involving the likes of Brodie Lee, Hikaru Shida and Lance Archer. Best Friends picked up a victory over Kenny Omega & Michael Nakazawa and in the main event, Cody defeated Shawn Spears to advance to the semifinals of the TNT Title Tournament.
