NXT U.K.'s Kenny Williams Talks Dropping Out Of Law School To Pursue A Career In Wrestling

Kenny Williams bet on himself.

WWE's NXT U.K. brand is spotlighting some of the most talented professional wrestlers that hail from the United Kingdom and other countries around the world. Stars such as WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne, 2018 Mae Young Classic winner Toni Storm and former PROGRESS World Champion Travis Banks are all a part of the NXT U.K. brand and while having already established themselves on the U.K. wrestling scene, WWE has brought those aforementioned stars and many others more attention.

Scotland's own former three-time ICW Zero-G Champion Kenny Williams is reaping the benefits of WWE's expansion into the U.K. as he is a member of the NXT U.K. roster. Kenny Williams has yet to make his debut on the show but when he does it will not be his first time appearing on the WWE Network. Williams was a part of the 2018 WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament and was bounced in the first round by Dave Mastiff. Those opportunities wouldn't have came along if Williams didn't bet on himself and he did so at the expense of law school. During an interview with his home-country news outlet 'The Scottish Sun', Williams told the story of how he left law school to pursue a career in wrestling.

?I went to Edinburgh University to be a lawyer. It was really only because I got good grades at school and I thought I?d give it a try. I was beginning to train as a wrestler at that point and my heart wasn?t in law. I left after six weeks. I?ve worked in bars too and as a waiter." He said. "I also worked for three years with my dad who is a roller shutter engineer. But all those jobs were just to support me becoming a wrestler.?

Also during the interview Kenny shared how surreal it is for him to be learning from the likes of Shawn Michaels and Triple H. He added that his end goal in all of this is to hopefully one day become WWE Champion.

?I?ve got to stay professional but my inner child is going mental and no part of me will ever stop thinking that it?s cool. I grew up idolizing guys like Shawn Michaels and Triple H and now I am getting advice from them. When I wrestled Rey Mysterio, neither of us were with WWE and now we both are and I think that?s amazing. My goal is to climb up the ladder and hopefully one day be champion in WWE.? He said.
