Pete Dunne Defends WWE UK Title Against Johnny Gargano At NXT Takeover, Will Not Be Televised

Pete Dunne's next UK title match won't air on TV, but will take place at NXT Takeover: War Games.

WWE announced today on their website that Pete Dunne will challenge Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover: War Games. While previous title matches have been televised, this one won't be -- it will only be for those who buy tickets for the show in Houston. It's always possible it will air on the following episode of NXT, but it will not air live.

The storyline going into the match is that Gargano has been trying to find his footing in NXT since the breakup of DIY this past May. He's lost to the likes of Fabian Archer and Andrade Cien Almas in recent weeks, and is heading into takeover without a whole lot of momentum.

Pete Dunne, meanwhile, made his Raw debut yesterday, defeating Enzo Amore. He won the title back at NXT Takeover: Chicago in a match against Pete Dunne that was considered one of the best WWE matches of the year.

It was announced a few weeks ago that Shawn Michaels and Johnny Gargano would compete in an "ab-off" at Takeover. No word if that will still go down or not.

NXT Takeover: War Games will have the titular match headline, with the Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong, The Undisputed Era and SAnitY competing in a three way War Games match, complete with two rings.
