Report: Hiromu Takahashi's Injury Will Not Require Surgery

Things may be looking better than expected for Hiromu Takahashi.

During the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship match at the NJPW G1 Special, Hiromu Takahashi appeared to land directly on his neck at a high angle when Dragon Lee suplexed him. After the event, reports were out that Takahashi had collapsed backstage and was believed to have a broken neck. The suplex can be seen in the image below.

Takahashi went back to Japan for further treatment and Wrestling Observer has reported Takahashi will not require surgery despite being hospitalized for three days before going back to Japan.

There has been no official word by NJPW or Takahashi regarding the severity of his injury.

Takahashi became IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion after winning the Best of the Super Juniors tournament and challenging Will Ospreay for the title at NJPW Dominion. Fightful had live coverage and recapping podcast for Dominion and the G1 Special.

Fightful Wrestling will continue to report on Takahashi's condition as more information is available.
