Jun Akiyama To Be Guest Coach At WWE PC In May, Has Been In Contact With WWE Since Summer 2019

Former president of All Japan Pro Wrestling Jun Akiyama is scheduled to meet with Triple H soon.

Yahoo Japan reports that Akiyama will be flying to the United States to meet with Triple H, visit the WWE Performance Center, and be present for an NXT event. The report states that the main purpose of Akiyama's meeting is to be a guest coach at the WWE Performance Center.

AJPW confirmed that Akiyama will be a guest coach at the Performance Center from May 12 through May 22.

The Yahoo report also states that Akiyama and Triple H met last June to discuss the possibility of WWE Japan and the two have been in contact since.

NXT Japan has been long rumored, but thus far nothing has come to fruition. It was reported in February by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE would be announcing a Performance Center in Japan in the upcoming months and that they reached out to Sen. Hiroshi Hase and Antonio Inoki about the political situation, but no further details were given.

In October 2019 it was reported by the Wrestling Observer that WWE had attempted to purchase NOAH, but the deal did not happen. NOAH ended up being sold to CyberAgent in January.

Along with being the former president of AJPW, Akiyama is a veteran since 1992 and one of the most decorated wrestlers in Japanese history.
