Report: WWE Delayed Recent SmackDown Taping Due To More Positive COVID-19 Tests

WWE was scheduled to tape multiple episodes of SmackDown on August 4, but plans changed.

According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, WWE delayed the second taping of SmackDown and 205 Live on August 4 due to more people testing positive for COVID-19. It is unknown how many talents tested positive during this latest round of testing. The report notes that the rescheduling was a last minute thing as more tests came back positive.

WWE rescheduled the SmackDown and 205 Live tapings for Thursday, August 13. The shows taped on Thursday will air tonight, August 14, on FOX and WWE Network.

WWE has not confirmed more positive tests in the company.

The company implemented testing in the middle of June after a second person tested positive for the virus. Once a larger round of testing was done, it was reported that up to 30 people had tested positive for COVID-19. WWE has continued to test talent and staff over the past two months.

Fightful will have live coverage of WWE SmackDown beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Friday.
