I'm Ryan Cook and I'll be taking you through all of tonight's action as the new NXT Heavyweight Champion Shinsuke Nakamura addresses the NXT universe for the first time since beating Samoa Joe at NXT Takeover Brooklyn! -We open with the medical team not clearing Joe tonight or anytime soon.
Tye Dillinger vs Buddy Murphy
Nothing happening early as they exchange headlocks. Murphy taunts Tye then Tye taunts back. Buddy hits a sliding forearm for a quick 1 count then Murphy sends Tye to the outside. Buddy sends him back in and hits a meteora for a close 2 count as we go to commercial.
Tye turns Murphy inside out with a lariat then hits the Tye Breaker for the pin and the win.
Winner: Tye Dillinger via pinfall with the Tye Breaker
-Next we get an interview with Tomaso Ciampa about Gargano's injury, but he's quickly interrupted by The Revival. The champs double teaming Ciampa and dragging him from the back and into the ring. They take turns pummeling him with right hands then push him out of the ring. Dawson gets on the mic and says they are reality and Ciampa was faced with reality. He says he and Gargano got a reality check as Ciampa gets back in the ring and they hit the Shatter Machine on him.
Steve Cutler vs Kenneth Crawford
Cutler applies a wrist lock, but Crawford gets out then Cutler hits a series of forearms and kicks in the corner. Cutler whips him into the other corner and gets a quick 2 count. Cutler applies a rear chin lock, but Crawford gets out then drops Cutler with a series of punches and kicks, ending with a dropkick. Crawford hits a running shooting star press, but only gets 2. Cutler then hits a fisherman's driver out of no where for the pin and the win.
Winner: Steve Cutler via pinfall with a fisherman's driver
-We get a Hideo Itami interview backstage where he talks about Austin Aries then a video package for Shinsuke Nakamura versus Sami Zayn from NXT Takeover Dallas.
No Way Jose vs Angelo Dawkins
They start off with a lot of taunting, dancing and rope running. Jose drops Dawkins with a series of lariats then hits a right hand then a full nelson slam for the pin and the win.
Winner: No Way Jose via pinfall
-Austin Aries is interviewed backstage but is interrupted by Andrade Alias. They then recap Shinsuke vs Finn Balor.
Liv Morgan vs Aliyah
Liv hits a headscissor then a drop toe hold for a quick 2 count. Aliyah applies some kind of kimura/americana then Liv hits a bulldog. Liv hits a spinning hook kick for the pin and the win.
Winner: Liv Morgan via pinfall
-They interview Jose backstage as Bobby Roode comes into frame slowly then walks away.
-Shinsuke Nakamura comes out and says he's accomplished everything he could in Japan and said he wanted competition and NXT was the place to go. He wanted to challenge himself and faced the best NXT had to offer and although he's still beat up from their match; he became champion. He says that this championship means the most to him and he respects Joe, but his era is over and this is the era of Strong Style.
