Rhea Ripley Beats Lyra Valkyria, Dragunov Stands Tall, Heritage Cup Controversy | NXT Fight Size

Here's your Fight Size update following WWE NXT on July 25, 2023.

- In the main event, WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley faced Lyra Valkyria. The NXT star delivered a valiant effort, but Ripley scored the win with the Riptide. Ripley showed her respect for her opponent after the bell.

Mustafa Ali vs. Lio Rush, Jack Perry Rejoins HOUSE OF TORTURE At NJPW Resurgence

- Trick Williams came to the ring. He called out Ilja Dragunov. They brawled, and Dragunov gained the upper hand. Carmelo Hayes got caught in the crossfire, as Dragunov took him out. Dragunov vowed to win the gold at NXT Great American Bash.

- Noam Dar and his Meta-Four stablemates came to the ring. Dar was still disheartened because he lost the NXT Heritage Cup. Lash Legend revealed that she had the Heritage Cup. Dar got out of his wheelchair. Legend announced that he was the undisputed Heritage Cup Champion. Nathan Frazer and Dragon Lee interrupted, and Frazer called Dar a fraud. Yulisa Leon and Valentin Leon showed up, and the two groups brawled. They will face each other at NXT Great American Bash.

- Von Wagner dominated Javier Bernal and beat him in a singles match. Wagner slammed Bernal through a table after the match. Bron Breakker blindsided Wagner with a vicious attack.

- Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo faced Bronco Nima and Lucien Price. Axiom attacked Scrypts, who was on commentary. D’Angelo capitalized and scored the win. Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, and Wolfgang) targeted the duo after the match, as they sent their challenges a heated message.

- “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley kicked off the show. Ripley said the Judgment Day runs WWE. Dominik claimed that he finally made the Mysterio name relevant. Wes Lee interrupted and he was angry that he lost the title the way he did. He said he wanted his rematch. Mustafa Ali came out and said Dominik stole his shot at the title. Ali said Lee dropped the ball by losing the title. Ali took a swing at Dominik, but he ducked, so Ali hit Lee. They brawled, and Dominik walked away. WWE confirmed that Mysterio will face both Lee and Ali at NXT Great American Bash.

- NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams, and Ilja Dragunov faced Schism (Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, and Rip Fowler). Masked members of Schism interfered in the match. Their involvement didn’t help Schism, as Hayes pinned Gacy for the win. Dragunov and Hayes argued after the match.

- The broadcast played footage of Roxanne Perez attacking Blair Davenport. WWE added a Weapons Wild stipulation to their match at NXT Great American Bash.

- A video package hyped up NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. She previewed her match with Thea Hail.

- Gable Steveson came to the ring to make his decision. Baron Corbin interrupted and told Steveson not to come to NXT. He stated that he would make Steveson fail. Steveson made his decision, as he challenged Corbin to face him in his first match at NXT Great American Bash.

- Dana Brooke faced Cora Jade in a Kendo Stick Match. They battled it out in a hard-fought match, and Brooke emerged victorious.

- Damon Kemp seemingly joined forces with Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey

- Thea Hail trained for her NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT Great American Bash. Andre Chase and Duke Hudson reflected on her journey in NXT.

- Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza argued backstage. Carrillo questioned whether they were chasing women or glory. He said he wasn’t doing “this” anymore, and he walked away.

- Roxanne Perez seemingly acknowledged the comparisons between her brawl with Davenport to the grocery store fight between Steve Austin and Booker T.

- In an NXT Digital Exclusive, Lyra Valkyria shared her thoughts following her match with Rhea Ripley. She stated that she felt the most fulfilled since she came to NXT. Valkyria called the match the awakening she needed. She made it clear that she's ready for Jacy Jayne, and she's ready to move on to whatever's next.

- Von Wagner commented on getting attacked on Bron Breakker in an NXT Digital Exclusive and stated that the former champion woke him up.

- Rhea Ripley gave Lyra Valkyria credit and told the NXT star to porve her right.
