It was advertised that CM Punk would be defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against 2026 men’s Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.
On the road to WrestleMania, there was a stop at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, where Punk put his title on the line against Finn Bálor.
Punk put Bálor away with the G.T.S. to retain the title, and after the bout, Roman Reigns tweeted the following about Punk:
