Callihan compares who he is now to who he was back then.
Former two-time AAW Heavyweight Champion Sami Callihan has been in the professional wrestling business 2006 and he has made many pit-stops and competed for a number of promotions over the past twelve years. One of those pit-stops was World Wrestling Entertainment in-which Sami was known as "Solomon Crowe" in NXT. Sami was never able to find himself in the sports-entertainment company and eventually asked to be released and he was officially granted that release on November 24th three years ago.
Sami has since went on to be featured on IMPACT Wrestling, Lucha Underground, MLW and in a number of other independent wrestling promotions across the United States.
While in New York during 'Bound For Glory' weekend, Callihan joined Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca and Mark Henry and spoke about his time in WWE and stated that the reason he did not find success there was because he was too busy trying to please everyone instead of just being himself and because of that, in his own words be became soft.
?I think I always had that but at the same point, I was the first one to say that I kinda became, for lack of better terms, a bitch when I was there. I wasn?t who I am in real life. I wasn?t who I am as a businessman. I went in there - tried to make everybody happy, tried to be the team player, tried to be the guy to do any interview, tried to be the guy to do anything that was asked of him, try to be the guy to try and make every single person down there happy from the agents to your coach to another agent and I had fifteen different people pulling me in fifteen different ways, so when I went out there, I?m the first one to see I didn?t look cool, I was supposed to be." Callihan explained. "So that?s on me, but at the same point I was never really given that opportunity to go, ?You know what? Screw this. Go out there and be Sami Callihan?. They didn?t sign Sami Callihan. They signed the buzz of Sami Callihan and said, ?You know what, let?s put Sami Callihan in a box right now and lets do something different?. I wish, I wish, I would?ve just went in there and not cared as much because I gave myself a lot of headache caring so much about changing the business or cared so much about being the top guy that I just allowed myself to not be who I wanted to be.?
