Sasha Banks: Getting Hit With A Chair Was A Dream Come True

Sasha Banks on taking a chair shot and more.

It's been three years since Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair made history at WWE Hell in a Cell 2016, becoming the first women to not only compete in a Hell in a Cell match, but to main event a WWE pay-per-view as well. And according to Sasha, she didn't know the latter was happening until the night before.

"I had an autograph session in New York, me and Bayley had car service to Boston, and I remember Charlotte calling me, and she said, 'Don't tell anyone, but they said we're the main event.' I was like, 'WHAT!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!' In Boston, my hometown. And the first-ever women to main event a pay-per-view, like, what the hell? I was freaking out," Sasha recalled on the We Have Cool Friends podcast.

Finding out things last minute is pretty commonplace in WWE based on previous interviews with superstars. According to Sasha, sometimes you're asked to do something without knowing what you're getting yourself into.

"You would think they'd be like, 'Hey, are you comfortable? are you okay? Can you do this? Can you do a ladder match?' Hey, can you take a chair shot?' Uhhh, sure? I'll do it. How much money? Just kidding, you're welcome Vince," Sasha joked. "We don't know a lot of stuff until we get there and a lot of times we don't even have any say. But it's cool. It's what I grew up watching. The last pay-per-view, when I took a chair [shot], it sucked and hurt so bad. But I was like, 'Dude, I can't believe I got hit with a chair.' It was like a dream come true."

Banks will be back inside Hell in a Cell on Sunday, Oct 6 when she challenges Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship.

Fightful will have live coverage of WWE Hell in a Cell beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday.
