Savio Vega Recalls Yokozuna Standing Up For Him Against Wrestlers Who Wanted To Get Him Fired

Savio Vega recalls Yokozuna standing up for him during their time together in the WWE.

Savio Vega and Yokozuna are Staples of the WWE New Generation era. both men also have a deeper connection, however. Both were members of BSK, the backstage clique that also featured Henry and Phineas Godwinn and The Undertaker.

On the latest WWE Network documentary series, Icons, the career and life of Rodney Anoa’i, better known as Yokozuna, was chronicled.

In addition to his career highlights such as winning the WWE Championship on two occasions, Yokozuna was also heralded as a great human being behind the scenes. An example of this for shared by Savio Vega when he recalled a story of Yokozuna standing up for him to unnamed wrestlers behind the scenes that were trying to push for Savio Vega to be fired.

“He heard this conversation where some other guys tried to get me fired and he got up, went straight to them, and told them, 'Why do you want Savio Vega fired when the only thing he's doing is bringing food to his house.' He went off on those guys. I said, 'Man, thank you.' You appreciate that. That's the people you love.”

In an interview posted on WWE's official website in 2015, Savio Vega called BSK a brotherhood.

“When my contract ended, I went to ‘Taker and said, ‘Bro, I’m finished.’ He said, ‘What do you mean finished? Let me talk to them and get you two more years.’ I said, ‘No, we’ve got something we’re going to do in Puerto Rico.’ So he asked, ‘You sure? Come on, two more years.’ But that was it for me. I appreciate him trying to help me,” said Savio.

Vega added, “It was a crew that was a brotherhood, more than anything. We took care of the business because it was our job. We loved this business. We enjoyed entertaining the people. But if you ask me, 'What is BSK?’ I’ll have to kill you, bro.”
