Shaq Says He Didn't Want To Wear A Gimmicky Costume On AEW Dynamite

Shaquille O'Neal dressed for a fight on AEW Dynamite.

Appearing on Access ahead of his match with Cody Rhodes last Wednesday, March 3, the 4-time NBA Champion was asked about what he'd be wearing to the ring. He shared that he chose to wore sweatpants and a tank top because he was challenged to a fight and wanted to treat it as such. He said the following:

"Look, Cody challenged me to a fight, I'm showing up in fight clothes, sweatpants and a tank top. I respect him, I respect his family, I respect all the wrestlers, what they've done. I don't want to come in with a gimmicky costume. This man challenged me to a fight. I'm showing up like it's going to be a fight. So I'm just going to wear sweatpants and a tank top."

Shaq appeared in tremendous shape on Dynamite and thanked Mario Lopez for inspiring his workout regimen.

"Guess who motivated me? One day I was looking on the internet and I'd seen my good friend Mario Lopez take his shirt off and I got jealous because we used to hang out back in the day. We used to look similar and now you're killing me, so I wanted to say thank you for motivating me. You look fabulous. I want to say I'm proud of you. But I'll be ready tonight, March 3rd, I'll be ready."

Shaq and Jade Cargill picked up the victory on Dynamite, defeating Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Towards the end of the match, Cody hit a cross-body on Shaq, taking him through two tables on the outside of the ring. The big man was stretchered out and into an ambulance, but when Tony Schiavone went to check on him and get a comment, he was nowhere to be found.
