Appearing on the Insight podcast with Chris Van Vliet, Shawn Spears detailed his discussions with Triple H and said that returning to WWE NXT was a no-brainer on his part.

"I immediately reached out to Hunter. ‘I’m free if there is interest.’ Ball is in your court kind of thing. He said, ‘What do you want to do?’ ‘I want to contribute.’ ’Okay, let me see what can happen. Not long after that, I was in touch with [people at WWE], and when [NXT] presented itself, the chance to came back to [NXT], I go, ‘You’re telling me I get to go back to a timeframe that was one of my favorites, I get to be around a lot of the coaches that helped build me, and I get to be under Shawn Michaels? I get to understand how he thinks and see how he operates, and I get to pass that knowledge down to kids and students at Flatbacks, and I get to be in my bed every night? Yeah. Let’s go.’ It was kind of a no-brainer. I jumped all over it."

Spears is currently working alongside Brooks Jensen on WWE NXT, acting as a mentor to the young star.

Spears also mentioned that he pitched being part of the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble, but the pitch came too little too late. Learn more here.
