In February of this year, the Austrian pro wrestler would capture the AEW Women’s World Title, defeating Kris Statlander in a strap match. At AEW Redemption this past weekend, she would drop the title to Willow Nightingale after 165 days as champion.
While speaking to Marking Out in a new video, Swerve Strickland would be asked if he saw Thekla’s world championship reign coming, noting that he knew she was a star from the moment she made her first entrace with AEW.
“100%. On her debut, the entrance alone captivated me, and I was like, that’s a star. She has it. She has it and she’s comfortable with it, and she knows who she is. It’s not something the machine can put together to crop together. This is who you are. This is just naturally who she is. Someone like that is just bound to succeed.”
Elsewhere in another quote, Swerve spoke about Will Ospreay’s story heading into AEW All In. You can read more about that here.
