Tenille Dashwood Talks Looking To Become Women Of Honor Champion, Her Release From WWE, Praises ROH, More

It could really be all about her come April 7th.

Tenille Dashwood looks to become the first-ever Women Of Honor Champion. This upcoming Saturday At Ring Of Honor Supercard Of Honor XII, the finals of the Women Of Honor Championship tournament will take place as there are four remaining competitors in the field: Kelly Klein, Mayu Iwatani, Sumie Sakai, and Tenille Dashwood look to earn their place in history as two of the four competitors will meet in New Orleans to crown a champion.

Dashwood spoke with Kevin Eck of Sporting News recently and went over a number of topics. First making her appearance for Ring Of Honor at their 'Honor Reigns Supreme' show, she instantly looked to leave her mark on the company's women's division.

?Ring Of Honor is one of the top companies in the world, and that played a big part in me going there,? said Dashwood,"And the timing was perfect. They had just put out the tournament for the championship. This is the year where [the women in WOH] are really getting the opportunity to show what they?ve got, especially on TV and to a bigger audience. The competition is just getting better and better with the opportunity to build the excitement and the need to perform and put on great matches.?

A week before her release from WWE she was competing against Asuka on the 'TLC' PPV and the following night on RAW. Her release came as a major surprise but she flipped what at the time was a negative into a positive.

?I was definitely surprised,? she said. ?I really enjoyed my match with Asuka at the pay-per-view, and that was the first singles match [on pay-per-view] that I had there. So I was definitely surprised when I found out, but it gave me almost like a launching pad to go out and wrestle for all these companies elsewhere. It was almost a reminder for the fans that I can wrestle. So it really helped me moving forward and I?m glad that I can wrestle everywhere now and the demand is there.?

Tenille is no stranger to championship tournaments as she battled former two-time WWE Divas Champion Paige while they both were in NXT to crown the first-ever NXT Women's Champion. That memory remains with her seeing as how she will forever be edged in the NXT/WWE history books.

?In the history of [the] NXT book it says that the matches that Paige and I had were what kick-started the whole women?s evolution, or revolution, and obviously from there on everyone has just jumped on the opportunity and these women have had some of the most amazing matches,? Dashwood said. ?It was special to be a part of, but we never would?ve seen women?s wrestling being where it is today. It just goes to show the talent that?s out there, and when given an opportunity these amazing women are able to deliver.?

The upcoming WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal is another opportunity for a competitor to earn her place in history as the first-ever winner of said battle royal. To take a look at the updated list of competitors in the match, click here.
