Shaquille O'Neal made quite the impression on Tony Khan.
Ahead of his AEW Dynamite bout on March 3, Shaq promised his match would top all past celebrity wrestling matches. Shaq teamed with Jade Cargill to defeat Cody Rhodes & Red Velvet on the March 3 episode of Dynamite, which was highlighted by Shaq and Cody crashing through a table.
Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, AEW President Tony Khan graded Shaq's performance.
“Shaq is the greatest celebrity wrestler of all time,” Khan said. “Backstage, I’ve never seen anyone come in and be more genuine, spend more time working on the craft for months, as well as paying respect to the wrestlers. This is one of the biggest stars in the world, and he came in to help us. He gave to the wrestling business in a way that was incredible, and I’d be remiss not to mention that.”
Shaq was put in an ambulance following the spot, but had magically disappeared when the doors re-opened. It is unknown if Shaq will return to AEW television.
One name who will return is Mike Tyson, who will make his first appearance on AEW Dynamite since May 2020. Tyson is scheduled for the April 7 edition of Dynamite. You can find more details by clicking here.
