Tony Khan wishes Brodie Lee could have seen this year's installment of Double or Nothing.
On December 26, 2020, Brodie Lee (Jon Huber) tragically passed away after battling a lung ailment. He was only 41 years old. Four days later, AEW hosted a celebration of his life on Dynamite. The company has kept Jon's family close, whether it be by raising money to help them or by having Brodie Jr. (Negative One) become a member of the Dark Order.
Following AEW Double or Nothing, Tony Khan held a media scrum and made a point to bring up Brodie Lee and said that he wished he could have seen the event. He called this the second most emotional show they've done, aside from the tribute episode of Dynamite.
“The one thing I wished was that the person who would have seen this is Brodie [Lee]," said Khan. "It probably ranks as one of the two most emotional shows we’ve had, second only, of course, to the Brodie Lee Show. Last year he was in a World Title match at Double or Nothing. That's such a great match and that's the first show where we let some family and friends who were tested in. and we had a tested bubble crowd and distanced and it was nothing like this but he had a great match in a very small crowd and I just wish he could have been here tonight."
At last year's Double or Nothing, Mr. Brodie Lee faced Jon Moxley in the co-main event as he challenged for the AEW World Championship.
