Triple H Clarifies Recent Backstage Meeting, Says AEW Was Never Brought Up

Ahead of NXT's move to Tuesday nights, a backstage meeting was held on March 31 with Triple H discussing the move with talent and staff.

It was initially reported by The Wrestling Observer that Triple H commented that NXT was "bullied" off Wednesdays by AEW. Fightful reached out to several wrestlers and members of the staff, who vehemently denied that Triple H said anything resembling that they were "bullied" off of Wednesday nights.

The orginal report by the Wrestling Observer was corrected with Dave Meltzer noting on Twitter that two people reached out to say the "bully" line didn't happen.

During the post-NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver media call, Triple H was asked about what was or wasn't said during the meeting by Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp.

Triple H replied, "Yeah, look, if I wanted everybody to know what was in the meeting I would have put out a memo and you guys could have just got it from one of your sources first hand and printed it. It was a conversation with our talent that was exactly that, it was informational to tell them where we're going. Meetings that we have all the time given COVID restrictions. We had a lot less than we normally would. As far as the content of the meeting that was reported by a lot of people and elsewhere, completely inaccurate. Never said, never brought up, nobody else was ever brought up, nothing about other people, wasn't about other brands or companies or anything else. It was a factual meeting to tell people where we're going, where we're headed and to motivate them going into the future. Nothing more nothing less."

Fightful reported Triple H focused heavily on the reasons for the move to Tuesday nights, telling the NXT roster that going on a night after Raw was a good thing for the brand and that there are a lot of opportunities with the replay being on Peacock, and he hopes that people focus more on the show than the viewership now that the change is happening.

NXT will begin its run on Tuesdays beginning April 13.
