Johnny Gargano will be facing a familiar opponent and Aleister Black is making a Championship defense.
At the May 9th set of NXT tapings, Tommaso Ciampa began by taunting the crowd by coming out to Johnny Gargano's music because Gargano was still recovering from their NXT Takeover: New Orleans unsanctioned match. He was berated and slapped by Gargano's wife Candice LeRae. Later, Gargano would call out Ciampa and the two wrestlers nearly brawled.
Then towards the end of the taping, Gargano announced he was going to face Ciampa in a Street Fight at NXT Takeover: Chicago. Gargano has not wrestled since he earned his way back to NXT by defeating Ciampa in New Orleans.
Aleister Black also scheduled a NXT Championship defense against Lars Sullivan in Chicago as well. This will make his second championship defense since winning the belt from Smackdown wrestler Andrade Almas in New Orleans.
The takeover event is the second time NXT has gone to Chicago for their WWE Network special. It takes place on May 20th at the All State Arena.
