Viktor On NXT Call-Ups To WWE: They Treat It Like It's Your First Time In Front Of Anybody

After nearly a year as NXT Tag Team Champions, the Ascension (Konnor & Viktor) were called up to the main roster in December 2014.

The act caught on in NXT as they became the most dominant tag team in NXT. But when they got to the main roster, things didn't quite hit the same.

Chad Gable: All You're Seeing Is The Real Chad Gable, This Is What You've Been Waiting For

"We worked with so many writers and producers, so it never made sense to me other than, in our case, Vince had his own vision of what he wanted. When we were first filming stuff, even that got changed. Hunter was like, 'this isn't how it should be' and it became a struggle, but it was like that with a lot of guys who came up. I get everybody evolves in WWE and in their career, but they treat it like 'this is your first time in front of anybody,'" said Viktor on the Lewis Nicholls Show.

"We're walking up to Madison Square Garden and every fan out there knows who we are. That night, they were like, 'We're gonna have Vickie [Guerrero] introduce you to get you some heat.' We thought it was great. The crowd is booing the shit out of Vickie, she introduces us, and it's the opposite reaction. I don't know if the two worlds  [NXT and main roster] have quite blended. I feel like they're trying to do better since the early times when guys were coming up."

The Ascension lasted five years on the main roster but didn't find much success, often being used as lower midcarders, if they were used at all.

Elsewhere during the interview, Viktor recalled believing he was going to fired on the day he was called up. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
