Roman Reigns won't have to wait long to reclaim what he believes is his.
WWE announced 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt will defend the WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match at Payback.
Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam, attacking Wyatt and Strowman in the main event segment. Reigns never lost the Universal Title after relinquishing it when his leukemia returned in October 2018. He was scheduled to challenge Goldberg for the title at WrestleMania 36, but opted out of the event in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. SummerSlam was his first appearance since before WrestleMania 36.

Also made official for Payback is Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler challenging Sasha Banks & Bayley for the Women's Tag Team Titles.
Later in the night on Raw it was announced Keith Lee would take on Randy Orton at Payback. The two battled on Raw, but the match ended in a disqualification when Drew McIntyre interfered and attacked Orton. The attack only angered Orton, who sent McIntyre to the local medical facility with a third punt kick of the night.
