Matt Cardona is ready to be his own man.
After well over a decade with WWE, Zack Ryder was released on Wednesday, April 15th, 2020. Now going by his real name, Matt Cardona, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion hosted a live Q&A on Instagram where he began to open up about the next chapter of his life.
When asked what his favorite movie was, Cardona would say it's the 1987 film, The Monster Squad and would compare his WWE release to the end of the film.
?When I got released it felt like, if you've ever seen The Monster Squad, at the end, Rudy shoots the Wolfman with the silver bullet and right before the Wolfman dies, he turns back into his human form and he says, 'thank you.' That's what I felt like when I got released,? he would say.
Furthermore, Zack Ryder was asked if moving forward, he would team with his former partner, Brian Myers aka Curt Hawkins who was also released on April 15. Ryder proclaimed that the duo would go their separate ways outside of a few very special occasions.
So, Brian and I talked about this. We are not teaming,? he said. ?We are not teaming anywhere unless-- one of the things we want to do is we do the Major Wrestling Figure live podcasts, but we'd like to put on live wrestling shows. I would love to team with him in that environment or I'd love to wrestle like the Rock N' Roll Express or the Headbangers. But other than that, we're going our own separate ways.?
