Deiveson Figueiredo Says TJ Dillashaw Situation Has Changed The Stakes For Jussier Formiga Bout

Deiveson Figueiredo and Jussier Formiga will do battle on the main card of tonight’s UFC Fight Night Nashville event.

The flyweight contender believes that the stakes of tonight’s bout have changed due to the situation surrounding former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw.

Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler Officially Announced For UFC 303, Will Take Place At Welterweight

“The rematch between Dillashaw and Cejudo won’t happen anytime soon after the news that he tested positive, so that helps me a lot,” Figueiredo told MMA Fighting. “To me, a win over Formiga will definitely put me in a title fight against Cejudo.”

It was recently revealed that Dillashaw has relinquished the UFC Bantamweight Title after adverse findings were found in a drug test in line with UFC Fight Night Brooklyn.

Figueiredo is also planning for a potential scenario that would see UFC Flyweight Champion Henry Cejudo give up his title.

“If (Cejudo) really doesn’t want to fight (at flyweight) anymore, that opens space for a new title fight,” said Figueiredo. “That opens a huge gap for a new championship fight. I’m happy with those news, man.”

UFC Fight Night Nashville takes place tonight from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee with Stephen Thompson and Anthony Pettis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
