Report: UFC 251 Brought In Over One Million PPV Buys

UFC 251 took place this past weekend, with three title fights in the marquee spots as UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman defeating BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal, UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski defeating former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway for a second time and Petr Yan defeating former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo for the vacant UFC Bantamweight Title.

The show was reportedly a huge success for the promotion, as a report from The Athletic states that the pay-per-view card brought in 1.3 million pay-per-view buys. If the report is accurate, it makes UFC President Dana White’s comments about the show trending higher than a Conor McGregor fight absolutely true.

Other bouts on the main card saw former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas defeat former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Jessica Andrade in their rematch and Amanda Ribas defeat Paige VanZant.

Masvidal, who lost to Usman in the main event, commentated on the buy rate through Twitter:

There was also an eight fight preliminary card that aired live on ESPN before the pay-per-view, but the viewership hasn’t been revealed yet for that portion of the card.
