Cash Wheeler Explains Why He Was Not At AEW Grand Slam Mexico 2025: “I Had The Wrong Passport & Got Held Hostage For 18 Hours Or So”

The reason why Cash Wheeler was not at Grand Slam Mexico.

It was in June 2025 that All Elite Wrestling presented a show at Arena México titled Grand Slam Mexico.

The opening match of the card was a 14-man tag bout that featured FTR’s Dax Harwood. It was stated that Cash Wheeler was unable to be there because of reasons out of his control.

Wheeler revealed why he was not present during his chat with Joe Hulbert on Late Night Grin. He said he had the wrong passport and got held up for 18 hours.

“Obviously, I’d love to win the CMLL Tag Titles, but more than anything at this point, I just want to perform in Arena México and not get held up because I had the wrong passport.” Wheeler was asked if that information is public, and he replied, “I don’t think so. No… I mean, it’s not that bad. I just had the wrong passport and got held hostage for 18 hours or so — whatever it was.” Wheeler continued, “I can still have a good laugh at it now, especially just based off how I was feeling in the moment… I still don’t understand the actual happening behind that… I’ll explain (in) more detail in due time if it’s ever asked.”

AEW is returning to Arena México for Grand Slam 2026 on August 5th.
