Dolph Ziggler is always trying to make WWE better.
Speaking on the In This Corner Podcast, Ziggler began by discussing how he has not taken many breaks in his WWE career. Ziggler revealed that it wasn't his choice and that when he has wanted to go away, he would be back within three weeks. During his answer, Ziggler said, "I assure you, every day -- at least every Monday -- I am the one talking to the boss about how to make the show better. I'm the one trying to make things better for the people in the matches or stories that I'm involved in."
Following up, Ziggler was asked about the young guys getting into Vince's ear and whether or not they are scared to do so compared to the veteran superstars.
"The sad part is...the veteran guys, who have known Vince since the Attitude Era and who have been there when it was crazy hot have his ear more, even if it's not always in the best interest. It's not that they don't do that, it's that they do it and there's nowhere else to go," said Ziggler. "When you go, 'I don't feel comfortable with this' or 'this isn't my thing, someone else should be doing this.' They're like, 'Well, you could sit in catering or you could quit.' I don't know how other peoples interactions go. I don't want to know. I like mine, where I go, 'Here's how I can make this better, do you like it?' Sometimes he says 'that's a great idea' and sometimes he says 'that's absolutely not what we're going for.'"
Ziggler went on to explain that the Attitude Era guys like to think that the business is the same as it was in the '90s, but that's the case anymore and it's harder to "grab the brass ring" than one may think.
"People are constantly in there trying to make things better. It's show business so people are trying to make themselves better, which I understand. I feel like those Attitude Era guys who are like, 'Why don't you just do this?' That's not how this business works anymore," said Ziggler. "Once you do make some crazy decision and it's in your hands and you go to do it yourself, you're now possibly jeopardizing a story for other people, a television show that's a team, and you never know where it's going to lead to. You don't have that option to go; Go to hell, I'm going to do what I want and maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. There's been a couple of times in past where I've said, 'This is the right thing to do' and I was told no, and I did it. And three out of four times, it blew the roof off and it was the right move. Four out of four times, I was told, 'Don't ever do that again. It doesn't matter if it's better. This is a team, not about you.'"
Ziggler has looked rejuvenated since moving to Raw as part of the WWE Draft earlier this year. He's been paired with Drew McIntyre, who has been very outspoken about the complacency in the Raw locker room. Ziggler and McIntyre currently hold the Raw Tag Team Titles.
