Abyss says he had offers to join WWE during the peak of his career as a TNA Wrestling star.
Abyss is one of the TNA Originals that never officially made the jump to WWE in a wrestling capacity. While he currently works backstage as one of the top agents in WWE, there were offers for him to join the WWE roster during the peak of TNA's ascension to the number two spot in North American professional wrestling.
During a recent interview with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, the TNA Hall of Famer was asked about persistent rumors that there were offers on the table from WWE. He confirmed the rumors, stating that he had received a few offers in the mid-2000s. However, he was extremely loyal to TNA and didn't feel comfortable leaving the brand at that time because he believed the roster was building something special.
"I’ll tell you flat out, it was true. There were opportunities presented, I think in 2005 and 2007. There might have been another time. It was extremely humbling and extremely exciting. I was just in a place where I was with TNA since the very beginning, and I felt like I was one of the cornerstones that helped build it along with AJ [Styles], Jeff [Jarrett], Samoa Joe, Sting, and Christopher Daniels. The opportunity was there. I just, at that time, I felt loyal to TNA being there from the beginning. That was something that I couldn’t walk away from."
While he was never officially on the WWE roster, Abyss has finally been included in a WWE video game in an official capacity. He is now available as a playable character in WWE 2K25 since he’s part of the Dunk & Destruction DLC pack released on June 25. Learn more about his experience being added to the game here.
