Battle Slam combines the world of wrestling and hip-hop with events featuring wrestling matches, hip-hop performances, and hip-hop performers competing in wrestling matches.
Atlanta rap legend Lil Scrappy has made a quick impact in Battle Slam, holding wins over Baron Black and Shoot Taylor. He competed for the Battle Slam ICON World Championship at Battle Slam The Aftermath, but got disqualified in the bout.
Speaking to Stephen Jensen of The Spotlight immediately following Battle Slam The Aftermath, Black commented on Scrappy's performances at Battle Slam.
"You saw him tonight [Sunday]. He beat Shoot Taylor to advance to the finals. He got a little too bit crunk in the finals and got himself disqualified. One thing is for sure, he lives for this industry, lives for this sport, lives for this business. You saw when he wrestled me, he got the upset win, I will get that back, trust me. He got a win over Shoot Taylor. He still has not been pinned, that's crazy. You see the work ethic he's put in, you see his performance in the ring. I have nothing but respect for that man because he doesn't have to take it seriously, he's already a made superstar on television and a rap legend. He came in here, gritted his teeth, and started like a rookie. He took it seriously and you can see the raw product of him in the ring," said Black.
Scrappy wasn't the only Atlanta rap legend to show up at Battle Slam The Aftermath as Trillville was part of the festivities as well, appearing as a surprise guest of Scrappy's.
"I didn't know Trillville was going to be here until he came out with Scrappy," said Black. "Trillville was here, then he punched one of my referees. I don't know what the hell that is about either. We're gonna have to decipher that because there has to be consequences and repercussions. You can't put your hands on my officials. Mr. Trillville, I'm going to be hollerin' at you. Scrappy can't come in here and do what the hell he wants to do. You can't do it either. There will be consequences and repercussions, trust the world champ when I say it."
Black won the Battle Slam ICON World Championship in a four-way bout at The Aftermath, defeating Scrappy, Richard King, and Leon Ruff.
