Rocky Romero Understands Both Sides Of The MJF/AEW Issue, Doesn't Think MJF Will Ever Work For NJPW

Rocky Romero understands both sides of the current situation between MJF and AEW in a way that not many people in the industry can.

Rocky Romero is, of course, a professional wrestler first. However, Romero is also part of the office structure for New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Because of this, Rocky is able to see certain situations from the perspective of someone who is forced to make decisions rather than only having the perspective of another professional wrestler.

Currently, MJF’s status with AEW is up in the air. MJF has not been seen on AEW programming since the Wednesday following AEW Double or Nothing 2022 where he stood in the middle of the ring and called Tony Khan a “fucking mark” while begging to be fired.

Speaking about the situation with Sean Ross Sapp, Rocky Romero, like many who have been asked, had a hard time weighing in on the situation but was also able to articulate the viewpoint of both sides in the matter.

Rocky was, however, comfortable in saying that he does not believe Maxwell Jacob Friedman would want to wrestle in NJPW, given MJF’s past comments on NJPW.

“I don't even know how to weigh in on it. It's a tough one to weigh in on,” Rocky said. “I see both sides. I definitely see both sides. You sign a deal, that's what your deal is until it's time for a new one. On MJF's side, he feels it's already time for a new one, and I understand that too, being a talent, 100%.

“Once you strike gold, you're like, 'Hey, can I get a little bump? Can I get a raise?' Staying hot for another two years might be difficult,” he continued. “I get it, I sympathize with both sides and understand both sides. I'm glad I'm not involved in it, that's for sure. I don't think MJF would want to wrestle in New Japan. I don't think he's interested at all.”

Tony Khan, since then, has continuously refused to comment on MJF’s situation. However, one person that has spoken up is Wardlow, who is on record as saying that his former on-screen boss is “a piece of shit.” Read his comments at this link.
