John Cena Says His Relationship With WWE Fans Made Proposal To Nikki Bella Special

John Cena has had a busy year between championship title reigns, his movie and TV schedule and the like, but hasn't slowed down his media appearances as he heads towards marriage.

On Good Morning Britain, John Cena opened up about his engagement, which took place immediately following a WrestleMania 33 victory over Miz and Maryse. Nikki Bella, Cena's then-girlfriend, got the news she'd been waiting for.

"She said yes. I was extremely nervous, the audience controls our program and this was in a match with 75,000 people. You just get to the point where you think 'this is a good idea', but then you're like, 'what if they start chanting 'no! no! no!?." It's the best moment of my life. I couldn't think of a better place to do it. WWE has been my family for the past 15 years. The crazy thing about that moment was that I was in a match, and if you watch the match back, the audience hated me. It's such a show of respect that once the performance was over, they realize that this is a moment we are both going to remember for all our lives."

It's worth noting, pockets of fans did actually chant "no" initially.

Cena would joke that even though Nikki Bella had repeatedly spoken about how she wanted to get married, he put her in a situation and environment where she couldn't have said no.
