Johnson's report goes on to say that Schiavone will continue to work with Major League Wrestling, where he serves as a color commentator.

There is no word on what role Schiavone will serve in AEW. Their current broadcast team consists of Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Alex Marvez. Schiavone has made appearances on AEW's Road To shows, providing insight into individual wrestlers and storylines.

MLW was reportedly unaware of Schiavone's involvement with AEW at the time, leading to MLW CEO Court Bauer releasing a statement that said, "Unless AEW elects to reach out, Tony Schiavone cannot proceed with AEW or any other company doing anything." Schiavone clarified at the time that he was not under contract with AEW, he was just helping out Cody Rhodes.

Schiavone served as the play-by-play announcer for WCW Nitro during the Monday Night Wars.
