Rey Mysterio Says There Is Nothing Set In Stone Between Himself And WWE Regarding A Return

Will Rey be back?

Since Rey Mysterio's surprise return to WWE during the 2018 Royal Rumble match, the rumors and reports have been flying across the wrestling news scene about his possible reemergence back in the WWE as either a part-time talent or a full-time talent. Rey has made in clear in a number of interviews that he would love to return to the sports-entertainment company but on a part-time basis.

The announcement of Rey Mysterio being one of the pre-order bonus characters for the WWE 2K19 video game also added fuel the flames about his potential return to the company. Rey Mysterio recently joined the 'Apter Chat' podcast with legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter and Apter's co-host Josh Shernoff to discuss the 'All In' event which Rey Mysterio was in the main event of and during the conversation, the topic of Rey and his current standing with WWE came up and the former two-time World Heavyweight Champion stated that there is nothing set in stone regarding a return to WWE but if the offer is right and the time is right, he'll make the jump back to the land of sports-entertainment.

“Well, we just gotta make sure that we keep in mind that rumors will always be rumors." Rey said. "There’s nothing locked in, there’s nothing secure that says that I’m going back. You know, I’m doing what I’m doing right now. I’m enjoying my independent wrestling life. I get to choose and pick when I wanna wrestle, where I wanna wrestle. If I want matches like he [ the fan questioner] just mentioned versus Kenny [Omega], I’m gonna make them happen if its possible so, there’s no insurance or security right now that I am going back." He explained. "I’ll tell you what though, if the time is right, and there’s an agreement on both ends - meaning WWE and myself, and there’s an offer on the table, I wouldn’t say no if its correct - if its the right one. But in the meantime, I’m still enjoying my liberty out here as an independent wrestler."

As mentioned, Rey Mysterio competed in the main event of 'All In' and teamed with Bandido and Fenix and they took on The Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi. To hear what Fightful's podcast crew thought about the main event and the show as a whole, click here.
