Sami Zayn Doesn’t Think He’s Fully Turned Heel, ‘I’m Trying To Play This One A Little Different’

Sami Zayn isn’t fully heel. Well, not yet.

Zayn turned a lot of fans off when he decided to effectively murder the Gingerbread Man on the May 1 episode of WWE SmackDown. Even with his homicidal decisions, Zayn doesn’t think that he has fully transitioned to the dark side yet.

“I’ll disagree with your statement that I’ve fully turned heel here, I don’t think I have. I think I’m trying to play this one a little different because this one is kind of different. We’re kind of riding these reactions, which are kinda different week to week. So, I had this idea for this slight character shift that would be a little out of the box and would kind of split the audience a little bit, but sometimes things just don’t work out exactly how you envision it. Sometimes you think you’re going to be somewhere on the timeline and you’re not. Maybe I’m being a little vague here about it, but all this to say, I still think there’s a ways to go and it could still go in a number of different ways, which I find interesting and kind of refreshing. Although, to be fair, if you kick a mannequin gingerbread man below the belt, I know that will upset some people because people want to have fun.” Sami Zayn told Toronto Sun in a new interview.

We can only hope that Zayn does not disrupt the funeral for the Gingerbread Man, which will take place on the May 8 episode of WWE SmackDown. Check out the full lineup by clicking here.
