Wardlow explains the legal nuisance that is Smart Mark Sterling.
Wardlow is under a contract with Maxwell Jacob Friedman in AEW. In recent weeks, Wardlow has openly expressed frustration with Max and even has people like CM Punk telling him that it's time for him to break away from MJF.
In the past, Wardlow has said in interviews that MJF consistently makes contract changes that get under his skin and that he does not rule out a match between them in the calendar year.
Now, he is detailing some of those changes and what exactly Max and his lawyer, Smart Mark Sterling, do to get under his skin.
Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Wardlow explained how his relationship with Max even began.
"Essentially, when AEW started, Max just reached out to me, and basically, long story short was, 'Hey, I'm about to make a lot of enemies, and I need somebody to watch my back.' He wrote up a contract, and he said, essentially, he would hire me to, basically, be his bodyguard, or take care of business for him. I agreed to do so. Now, after a couple of years, I don't think there are too many people that have a tremendous relationship with their boss, and just like any normal job, your boss can get on your nerves and we've seen many examples of this. So for now, he signs my paychecks, I'm still under contract with him, and we'll just see what the future holds," said Wardlow.
Wardlow further explained that Smart Mark Sterling consistently makes contract changes and every time that he draws attention to an issue, another page is somehow added to the contract.
"Max and his lawyers seemingly change this contract," Wardlow explained. "Every time I think something is settled. There's a new page of the contract that magically appears. So, there are things that are being looked into," he said.
Wardlow says Sterling is such a nuisance that he wants to hurt him more than he does Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
"Realistically, I would like to powerbomb Mark Sterling before MJF," Wardlow revealed.
