Trevin Giles and Kevin Holland were supposed to meet this past weekend at UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan, but Giles passed out backstage and the bout was canned by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC).
Giles, who has since been released from the hospital, has issued a statement on what went down on Instagram, saying that heart irregularities may have been the problem after all:
Got held over night in the hospital. Apparently I have heart irregularities that may be the cause of all this. Just had a heart cardiogram this morning. Waiting for the good news and back to Houston I go. I will enjoy my family, assure all my loved ones that I'm okay, then I will prepare to handle some unfinished business. Thanks for all the love and concern.
There is no word at this time as to when Giles will get cleared to compete again, but the fighter has made it clear that rescheduling the fight with Holland is the path he wants to go down.
