"The Master Of The 619 " and former two-time World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio has been in headlines as of late due to him being in demand on the pro wrestling scene. Rey Mysterio himself has confirmed that there has been talks between him and WWE about coming to terms on a deal. Rey will be competing during the G1 Climax 28 tournament against an opponent that has yet to be announced and he is also scheduled for 'All In' where he will be competing in a six-man tag team match.
Rey has also been working a number of independent wrestling shows including Northeast Wrestling. Mysterio will be working the promotion's forthcoming show on Saturday and this is not the first time he has worked for N.E.W. as it was in March of this year when he tore his bicep during a N.E.W. show. Nonetheless Mysterio has put that behind him and was recently interviewed by the 'Poughkeepsie Journal' to promote the show and Mysterio took a trip down memory lane to discuss how he broke into the wrestling business.
"My training began south of the border, in Tijuana, Mexico. My uncle was a professional wrestler, and he trained me along with several of the greats from Mexico." Rey said. "There?s a rich history of Mexican Lucha Libre. By the age of 8, I was wrestling. A normal kid would be playing basketball or baseball, but I was into the world of professional wrestling. I got my big break at the age of 13 and started work for the first major promotion, AAA."
Mysterio is well-known for his time in WWE where he won the World Title on three separate occasions, a Royal Rumble and many other titles and accolades were added to his resume throughout his combined years in WWE. Mysterio was asked about his time in Vince McMahon's house and Rey described it as followed:
"At the beginning, it was very fun. It was an experience. I had no idea what the life of a wrestler was like. My uncle never spoke to me about that. I had to witness it on my own, first-hand; to be away from family, brothers, girlfriends. You?re growing into your sport and maturing and learning what?s good, what?s not good. Trying to balance everything, it?s not easy." He stated.
