This is the Fightful.com live coverage for tonight's episode of WWE Smackdown! We are just days away from WWE Summerslam, but tonight in our main event Jinder Mahal takes on John Cena in a non-title match and much more so be sure to come back here at 8 PM EST for all of the action!
-We open the show with Jinder Mahal and the Singhs where he has a traditional dance group perform among other things before Shinsuke Nakamura comes out to the ring. Shinsuke says that today in Japan is the day where they honor fallen soldiers and pray for peace before saying that Sunday is Summerslam. Shinsuke then goes on to say that Jinder will lose the belt to him Sunday before leaving as we go to commercial.
Becky Lynch vs Natalya
Becky is in control to start the match, dropping Natalya before sending her out of the ring and dropping her at ringside as well as we go to commercial.
Natalya is in control as we come back from commercial, keeping Becky in an abdominal stretch that she's quick to get out of, Becky following up with an exploder suplex into a running forearm in the corner for a near fall. They tease their finishers, countering each other until Becky misses a leg drop off of the top rope. Natalya then locks in the sharpshooter for the tap and the win.
Winner: Natalya via submission
-We have Lana talking to Tamina before the Usos talk to Daniel who says they'll face Big-E and Xavier at Summerslam with Kofi in their corner.
Rusev vs Chad Gable
Rusev is all over Chad to start the match before Chad hits an overhead belly to belly suplex that sends Rusev out of the ring. Rusev tosses Gable into the ring steps before tossing him over the announce table before the referee calls for the bell.
Winner: No contest
-After the match Rusev puts the Accolade on Chad on top of the announce table before getting on the mic and starts to say something before Randy Orton comes out of nowhere and RKO's him as we go to commercial.
-AJ Styles comes out before Shane does, AJ apologizing for what happened last week. Shane says he doesn't need an apology for what happened in the heat of battle before saying that if he touches him he will defend himself rather than disqualifying him. Kevin Owens comes out next, but stays on the ramp and says Shane cannot trust AJ, trying to sow the seeds of doubt in Shane's mind. Kevin goes on to say that if he bumped or touched Shane that it would be an accident and that he knows that he'll call the match right down the middle. Kevin offers to shake AJ's hand, but they get into a shoving match before Kevin accidentally superkicks Shane when AJ ducks.
